My Concert Outfits

I went to two country concerts this month and though I'd post my outfits for each!

June 28th 2012

The dress I bought on sale for $11! I love it, it's thin for summer, too. I have an issue with buying dresses and only wearing them once because they're too dressy but this one is casual enough to wear anywhere. The belt was $16 at Dots around Christmas time so the one I featured here is similar. The boots are LEI and were originally $40 but I got them for $1 (woot) a few years ago because the store I worked at messed up their prices at Home Office. I do think those black Charlotte Russe boots would look better than mine did, they are a bit taller. I have those in brown but that just didn't go with this. The earrings were $8 at Dots, also around Christmas time so the ones above are similar. The ones I had on are black, chandelier-style marcasite dangles.

My Total Outfit Cost = $36
Outfit With Similar Pieces = $92

June 1st 2012

Admittedly, I don't think this dress really worked with those boots but I was determined to wear both lol The only thing different from the second outfit was the dress. I ADORE that dress, it looks so pretty with a tan. It's not available anymore on their website so I added a similar one by Bebe.

My Total Outfit Cost = $40
Outfit with Similar Pieces = $134

With the feather earrings I didn't wear ($5 at Charlotte Russe).

My very own nail polish color! lol I bought a neon coral that turned to be too dark so I mixed it with white and light pink nail polish to match the dress (which I ended up covering that part anyways!).

Hello Early 90s, we've missed you!

Ever since the late 90s, we've been recycling fashion and a good number of trends we have today seem to be inspired by a mix of 1980s and early 1990s runway and magazine editorial fashion. It's hard to believe it was 20 years ago! I've put together four outfits from the era and a ton of scans that look like they could be pulled from any of todays magazines.

 Christy Turlington  |   1992

I saw this picture of Christy Turlington with a Barqs rootbeer in the early 00s and I've loved it ever since. The outfit, photography, pose, hair, colors, setting, the whole thing! If I had to pick one to re-create myself, it'd definetly be this one.
Michelle Eabry  |  1990
Vintage Jello Yellow Lucite Bracelet

Neon! This cover is from a French Elle 1990 issue. Layered tanks and bakelite earrings are 90s all the way. I actually started to really love the bakelite and lucite earrings while I was putting this one together. The chunky ones are tough to find but a search on Etsy will give you a ton of options. I added in the lipstick, NYX Round Lipstick in Narcissus because I have that color and it's VERY similar to what she has on!

Rachel Williams  |  1991
Silver Chain Link Dangle Earrings

I love the blazer look so this one was an easy choice. You need a fairly long one to pull this off. There are literally tons of white blazers online and in stores but there are also vintage ones from that era on Etsy and Bonanza. Her watch is more of a crystal bracelet-style watch but I wasn't able to find any decent priced ones.

Angie Everhart  |  1992
Belted Romper
Cateye Sunglasses
Neutral Slide Sandals
Embellished Flip-Flops
Portal Sunglasses
Mia Sandal

I'm not a big fan of rompers but this halter romper from 1992 looks to be scalloped lace at the bottom which I think is cute. Victoria's Secret just released a very similar berry colored one which is only $40 right now! Not bad for their prices.

More Similar Fashions
More runway and magazine pulls from the early 90s that look similar to todays fashion. The only thing I wasn't able to find was the stone wash look :( Suprising because it was super popular back then. Also the floral grunge trend which looks to be making a comeback.

Iman, 1992
Crochet-style pants are the latest to start popping up!

Kate Moss, 1994

Beri Smither, 1991
Culture Phit Red Sandals - $56 at Culture Phit

 Karen Mulder, 1995
Everything about this one looks modern to me. The snake print, crop top, high pants and gold sandals.

Carried Away Rose Gold Platform Sandals - $56 at Unlisted

Cindy Crawford, 1990
The shoes not so much (or at all!) but the blazer, jewelry and sunglasses.

 Paulina Porizkova, 1987
Yellow Wrap Skirt - $8.50 at Forever 21

 Yasmeen Ghauri, 1991
This screen tee/dress look looks really familiar! I have yet to see any letter earrings like that, though.

Helenda Christensen, 1992
Early 90s bandage dresses! These look about the most modern of all. Helena Christensen for Herve Leger, 1992.

 1992
Tortoise sunglasses, large tote bag, blazer. This almost looks like a pull of Alessandra Ambrosio from a modern issue.

 Heidi Klum, 1994

 Kate Moss, 1993
The fringe bikini look and white sunglasses.
Helena Christensen, 1992

 Claudia Schiffer, 1990
Black ankle boots, high waisted shorts, colorblock jacket (LOVE that jacket!).

 Gretha Cavazzoni, 1991

 Claudia Schiffer, 1990

 Christy Turlington, 1993

 Unknown, 1993
With the multicolor lucite bangles and bright sheath dress, this one looks super modern.

 Claudia Schiffer, 1990
I mainly added this one for the color blockin, denim jacket and bangle. I'm sure the legging style will only be a matter of time!

 Unknown, 1991
Those sunglasses are hot right now as well as the jeans and cuff bracelets.

Niki Taylor, 1991

Beverly Peele, 1991

 Niki Taylor, 1991
One of the most modern-looking, I love this one!

1991

Claudia Schiffer, 1990

 Nadege du Bospertus, 1990

 Emma Balfour, 1990

Best celebrity bandage dresses and where to get them...

Bandage dresses are so popular right now and have been for about 4 years, I don't think there's a celebrity I haven't seen in at least one so I decided to list the ones I've found to be the best, why they worked well and where to buy them!

Audrina Patridge
Yellow Bandage Dress

Easy Street Silver Heels
Webster Pumps
Princess Pleated Heels

I love, love, LOVE this dress! Mainly because of the neon lemon color. It's definetly difficult to find this color unless you're buying an exact replica. I'm not sure about the shoes, I would've paired it with black shoes but her dark hair color and tanned skin makes this work great for her!

Rihanna
Pink Bandage Dress

Another dress I just adore, this one is easy to find (but pricey of course), it's been replicated by a ton of different companies. The cheapest replicas I've seen are at French Connection and on eBay. I think her makeup worked beautifully right down to the black nails. Earrings match the t strap shoes. None of her accessories take attention away from the dress and it fits her skin tone perfectly.

Amanda Bynes
Blue Bandage Dress

This dress is pretty popular with celebrities. It's also been worn by Christina Aguilera, Christina Milian, Beyonce, Erin Andrews and more. I think Amanda Bynes wore it best though. Minimal accessories and I love the hair color with it.

Irina Shayk
Green/Teal Bandage Dress

I loved this dress from the first time I saw that photo! Other than being a tad short, I think the colors are unique together and I love the light pink heels. Her tan definetly makes this work a lot better than it would on a lighter skin tone. This style can be found in a range of colors including pinks, browns, reds and purples.

Miranda Kerr
White Bandage Dress

It was tough to choose between this one and Miranda Kerr's red bandage dress look which is also gorgeous but I decided to do the white because this is so simple yet still a stand out. I love that it goes to the knee but wasn't able to find another one that does other than the exact replica. I think almost anything she does works for her, no explanation needed!

Jennifer Love Hewitt
Rose Ombre Bandage Dress

This was definetly the difficult one! I'm in love with these colors and the metallic sheen. This dress has yet to be duplicated by any companies so it was very tough to find similar ones at prices that aren't outrageous. I think her it fits her shape perfectly and I love the darker color nude heels. And hardly any accessories! Any accessories probably would have taken away from the dress itself.

Christina Milian
Sky Blue Bandage Dress

Christina Milian wore this on New Years Eve 2008 into 09 and I'm including it because I love the sky blue/periwinkle color. It fits her skin tone and makeup great and I love the accessories!

Kimberley Walsh
Black Studded Bandage Dress

Adore this! I think she has an awesome, curvy shape and this probably would not have looked as good on a thinner frame. The opaque tights are also excellent with this. I couldn't find a replica but did find a few similar ones.

Danneel Harris
Red / Pink Ombre Bandage Dress

I'm a sucker for pink & black even though red & black are my favorite colors so this dress is just stunning to me. I would buy the pink with those patent heels right now if I had the money and somewhere to wear it to lol She chose the perfect shoes for this!

Jennifer Metcalfe
Aqua Bandage Gown

I included this one because it's a bandage gown and those are few and far between. I love the slit up the side and I think it works great with her skin and hair color and style. I'm almost sure it wouldn't have worked this well on a light skin color.

Here are 16 more honorable mentions!

ROW 1   Alessandra Ambrosio, Kiely Williams, Doutzen Kroes, Jessica Simpson
ROW 2   Kristin Cavalleri, Kim Kardashian, Amy Brenneman, Cheryl Cole
ROW 3   Ellen Hollman, Cheryl Cole, Maria Fowler, Carmen Electra
ROW 4   Erin Heatherton, Joanna Krupa, Leona Lewis, Joss Stone
